MVC fees going up in NJ

February 23, 2009 3:54:36 AM PST
Some Motor Vehicle Commission fees in New Jersey will go up this year by 50 percent or more. Officials say the increases are needed to cover costs and a deficit at the motor vehicle agency of about $27 million.

The fee hikes will apply to things such as documents, motorcycle registrations, commercial-driver exam permits and bad-driver programs.

Costs won't increase for driver's licenses or car registrations.
