Soldier to join Gillibrand at Obama speech

LONG ISLAND Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand says she invited the soldier to the Tuesday night speech after a meeting on Long Island last week.

First Lt. Louis Delli-Pizzi, a member of the National Guard's Fighting 69th infantry, recently returned from a year in Afghanistan. He served in Iraq in 2004 and 2005.

His "regular job" is as a detective with the New York City Police.

Gillibrand says she and Delli-Pizzi discussed the economic recovery efforts and the need to create more jobs for veterans.
