High school senior dies on rugby field

SUFFOLK Police in Suffolk said he collapsed while playing with a rugby club that is not affiliated with the William Floyd School on Tuesday afternoon around 3:35.

The school issued a statement identifying the student as Corey Stark, a high school senior.

Superintendent Paul Casciano said coaches told him it was the club's first practice, and the players were doing conditioning exercises.

He says efforts were made to revive Stark on the field before he was taken to a hospital.

Counselors will be made available at the high school for students.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Corey's family and friends during this difficult time," a statement from the school read.
