Bus passenger slashes driver

A female bus driver's shirt was slashed by a knife-wielding passenger Thursday after she warned a woman to stop leaning on the bus' rear door. Authorities say the driver was attacked as the bus neared the intersection of East 155 Street and Third Avenue in the Bronx just after 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

After the driver observed the female passenger leaning on the rear bus doors, she made a general announcement advising riders not to lean on the rear doors.

In response, police say the suspect approached the front of the bus and exchanged words with the driver.

The suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and slashed the driver's shirt sleeve. However, the knife did not puncture the driver's skin.

The suspect then fled the bus on foot, and authorities were looking for her.

The driver was not injured, but checked out at the scene.
