Police investigate Brooklyn stabbing

February 27, 2009 4:09:16 PM PST
Brooklyn police are examining surveillance video to try to identify any clues to the violent murder. The body was discovered about 6:30 Friday morning on DeGraw Street in the Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn.

Ironically one of the residents on DeGraw street is a New York City police officer.

So far, police have not identified the victim. They only say she was between 20 and 30 years old. She was stabbed multiple times.

The section of Carroll Gardens is beginning to feel the results of gentrification. Many neighbors told Eyewitness News reporter Stacey Sager they feel secure on their own streets and young women and children have no qualms about walking around alone. However, the violent crime has left them feeling some shock.

Residents in the neighborhood told Eyewitness News they saw bloody evidence of the crime as early as midnight.
