Cab driver dead, 3 hurt in crash

BRONX It happened on the Bruckner Boulevard at 149th Street just before 8 p.m.

According to witnesses, the livery cab driver was speeding down Bruckner Boulevard when he lost control of the car, jumped a median and crashed into a van carrying the other three people.

The 53-year-old driver of the livery cab was pronounced dead at the scene.

A six-year-old girl was listed in critical conditon at Lincoln Hospital. Two others in the minivan were also taken to Jacobi Medical Center in serious condition.

Firefighters needed to cut off the roof of the van in order to get the people out.

A witness says that there was a woman driving the van, a man in the passenger seat and a child in the back seat. The witness was standing outside a store and saw the cab speeding on the boulevard before hitting the van, head on.

Bruckner Boulevard was closed in both directions.
