Off duty firefighter in right place, right time

March 6, 2009 5:57:18 PM PST
Quick thinking by an off duty firefighter helped save the day. The fire broke out on the first floor of a 4-story building on Webster Avenue around 3:00 Friday afternoon.

Heavy smoke quickly traveled to the upper floors.

The off duty firefighter, who happened to be getting gas at a gas station next door, grabbed a garden hose and got to work.

Dan Lopuzzo managed to hold the fire back for several minutes until fire trucks arrived.

Several floors sustained serious damage, but no one was seriously hurt.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
