Ex-wife takes stand in slain dentist trial

NEW YORK Testifying for the first time Tuesday, Dr. Mazoltuv Borukhova said she had nothing to do with her husband's murder.

The 34-year-old Malakov was shot dead in October 2007 while delivering his daughter for a supervised visit with her mother.

Borukhova described meeting her husband at the park and then suddenly seeing him in pain and holding his chest. She made no mention of the gunman or the actual shooting.

Borukhova and a relative, Mikhail Mallayev, are on trial on murder and conspiracy charges. Prosecutors say Borukhova hired Mallayev to kill her husband after losing custody of the girl.

They have both pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.
