Thousands rally over proposed cuts

NEW YORK It's billed as the "Rally for New York" to protest the proposed state and city budget cuts to public services, education, health care and other programs to close looming budget gaps.

As a teacher, Samantha Deutsch is fighting for her job. Deep cuts in actual funding and projected spending for public schools would result in layoffs. Hospitals and health care services would also be drastically impacted.

The group wants taxes on the wealthiest New Yorkers raised instead of services getting the ax.
