Student's death is a mystery

March 5, 2009 10:08:16 PM PST
Authorities are investigating the death of a 19-year-old University at Buffalo student on campus. Campus Police Chief Gerald Schoenle says Jonah Dreskin of the Westchester County village of Ardsley was barely conscious Wednesday night when officers responded to a call about a man on a campus road near a residence hall.

He died soon after. Police are looking into whether Dreskin may have been hit by a vehicle or fallen from the building sometime between 11:30 p.m. and midnight.

Dreskin's father, Billy Dreskin, is rabbi of Woodlands Community Temple in Greenburgh.

Jonathan Ben Gordon, the temple's cantor, described Dreskin as "brilliant" and "spirited."
