Student's death is a mystery

AMHERST, N.Y. Campus Police Chief Gerald Schoenle says Jonah Dreskin of the Westchester County village of Ardsley was barely conscious Wednesday night when officers responded to a call about a man on a campus road near a residence hall.

He died soon after. Police are looking into whether Dreskin may have been hit by a vehicle or fallen from the building sometime between 11:30 p.m. and midnight.

Dreskin's father, Billy Dreskin, is rabbi of Woodlands Community Temple in Greenburgh.

Jonathan Ben Gordon, the temple's cantor, described Dreskin as "brilliant" and "spirited."
