Sources: Ex-cop kills ex-girlfriend

BROOKLYN Police responded to the home at 84 Engert Avenue in the Greenpoint section just after 6 p.m.

There, they found the 28-year-old woman shot once in the head. She was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

A second woman, also 28, was also shot in the elbow and grazed on the head. She was taken to Bellevue, where she is listed in stable condition.

According to witnesses, the ex-boyfriend fled in a gray Toyota Camry.

Investigators are now looking for the former officer, who apparently resigned after being arrested last year on corruption charges involving a Brooklyn narcotics unit.

Police identify the suspect as 43-year-old Jerry Bowens. He is approximately 5-foot-10 and weighs 215 pounds.

The New York City Police Department is also seeking information on the following three vehicles.

1. 2009 Gray Toyota Camry with NY plate # EHN5229 (last seen operating)

2. 2004 Black Hummer with NY plate # DJF3806

3. 2001 Gray GMC Denali with NY plate # EEE2442
