NEW YORK --Back away from the cell phone and no one will get hurt. The New York Police Department has begun a big crackdown on phoning-while-driving.
The 24-hour enforcement operation is under way today.
Last year, the NYPD issued nearly 200,000 summonses to drivers using a hand held cell phone.
Get caught and you could be fined $120.
