Toddler crashes car into building

Police in Medford are trying to determine how a toddler ended up behind the wheel of a car that crashed into a building.

The accident happened at 7:30 Tuesday night in front of 2690 Route 112.

A woman had just parked the car in front of the location to run into a check cashing store, police said.

She left a man and the boy in the car with the engine still running. It's not clear how it happened, but the toddler climbed into the driver's seat and somehow shifted the car into drive.

The vehicle took out a brick column and a window before coming to a stop inside a store.

Neither of the two people inside the car was injured. No one in the store was hurt.

Inspectors were on the scene to determine if the structure was still safe.
