Deadly gunfire in Crown Heights

CROWN HEIGHTS The shooting happened outside a food store shortly after 7:00 p.m. at 1478 Bedford Avenue.

The victim's girlfriend had run into the food store after the shooting screaming for help, witnesses said. Many people inside the deli had ducked for cover after hearing the gunshots.

Police said the 59-year-old man had been twice. He was rushed to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The victim's name was not released.

The shooting happened across the street from New Life Tabernacle Church where people were gathering for a gospel show.

Investigators are still trying to determine who did the shooting and why.
