Authorities in northern New Jersey say a Ridgewood man kept it in the family when he decided to steal someone else's identity. Jerome Singer has been charged with theft by deception and criminal impersonation. The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office says the victim was his own father-in-law.

They say the 69-year-old Singer had access to personal information that allowed him to pose as his father-in-law and open numerous credit card accounts.

He also allegedly obtained a mortgage of more than $75,000 on the man's home on Long Beach Island.

Singer, who works as a salesman at Ramsey Mazda, is due back in court next Wednesday.
