The first accident involved three vehicles on the inbound lanes of the upper level.
A pick up truck slammed into three cars on the inbound upper level George Washington Bridge.
Four people were injured, at least one seriously.
The victims were taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and St. Luke's Roosevelt.
All eastbound lanes were closed on the upper level for about an hour. The lanes were reopened just before 3:00, but delays were expected to continue.
No problems were reported on the lower level.
