A loss in the family

March 13, 2009

But we are, to be sure, not immune to everything everyone else deals with.

And so today at Eyewitness News our hearts are breaking for our dear friend, and my partner, Liz Cho.

Her father died overnight. He died at his home, surrounded by his family, including Liz.

He fought a long and hard battle against cancer, a brave battle that saw him seemingly conquer the disease - enough so that he was around for his granddaughter's birth, to see her celebrate her first birthday, and take her first steps, and say her first words, and hug and cherish the father of her mother.

Liz's dad was a respected and renowned professor and physician, a surgeon who knew better than anyone the odds he was fighting. He did it with dignity and optimism.

And tonight, our hearts and our thoughts are with Liz and her family.

If you'd like to send her your thoughts, we invite you to CLICK HERE. I'll make sure she sees them when she returns.

As always, we'll be here at 11 tonight, with the big news, and Lee Goldberg's AccuWeather forecast, and Scott Clark with the night's sports.
