One dead as car pulled from pond

One man was killed and another is clinging to life after their car careened into a pond on a farm in Warwick. The car crossed the yellow line on Route 1 and went out of control into a pond just after 5 a.m. Monday.

The vehicle became completely submerged in the pond.

Divers pulled the two men from the car and to land.

They were rushed to St. Anthony's Community Hospital in Warwick.

One man was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the other is clinging to life on a respirator.

Divers conducted a grid search of the pond to make sure no one else was under water. They found no other victims.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
