Marcher dies during St. Patty's parade

A drummer collapsed and died of an apparent heart attack while marching in the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. Authorities say a 59-year-old collapsed near the intersection of East 75th Street and Fifth Avenue sometime after noon.

He was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities believe the man suffered a heart attack after marching from the start of the parade to East 75th Street.

He was a tenor drummer from The Police Pipes and Drums of Bergen County, and an original member of the band, formed in 1992.
