Rye city manager fired

RYE, N.Y. (AP The City Council in that Westchester County community said Paul Shew failed to communicate with it on projects, among other things.

Former City Manager Frank Culross will take over Shew's duties.

After the vote Tuesday night, city workers hugged Shew and shook his hand.

Shew said the city has "some terrific employees." He declined to comment further.

The ouster takes effect in 30 days unless a public hearing is requested.
