NEWARK
New Brunswick police say the 15-year-old was driven away in a
van Sunday because his father was $200 short. Police say the father
had promised a group he would pay $2,800 to get his son to the
central Jersey town.
Oldiberto Mendoza wired the rest of the cash and his son arrived
in Newark on a bus yesterday.
Authorities don't know the whereabouts of the people who helped
the child across the border.
The case has been turned over to the FBI and the U.S.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
