Woman, boy injured in Pit Bull attack

WAPPINGER, N.Y. The incident happened on Thursday at 2 Taryl Court in Wappinger.

Fifty-two-year-old Josephine Ramsay and her nephew were playing with the year old Pit Bull in her back yard when the dog attacked the child, police said.

Ramsay managed to get the dog off the child, but not before also getting injured by the dog.

The boy was taken to Westchester Medical Center. He suffered around 80 lacerations to the face and scalp, police said. He received up to 1,000 stitches, officials said.

Ramsay also suffered severe bites to her arms and head.

Both Ramsay and her nephew remained in the hospital in stable condition.

Animal control officers seized the dog. At the Ramsay's request, the dog will be euthanized, authorities said.
