NJ woman accused of suffocating husband

ELMWOOD PARK, NJ Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said 47-year-old Jenny Tran of Elmwood Park was charged with "purposely and knowingly" causing her 50-year-old husband's death.

Molinelli said the victim, Minh Trung Tran, had suffered a stroke several months ago and wasn't "in a position to defend himself."

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

Authorities found the body around 9 a.m. Sunday when they responded to a 911 call at the family's home. Neighbors say the couple had two children, a teenage daughter and a son in grade school, who are now staying with a relative.

Although a motive for the killing has not been determined, authorities say the death has been classified as a homicide.

Efforts to contact Jenny Tran late Sunday night were not successful, and prosecutors did not know if she has retained a lawyer.
