The New York Yankees got a major scare in opening-day starter CC Sabathia's final spring outing. The left-hander had Jason Ellison's line-drive RBI single go off his glove in the second inning of New York's 8-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday.

"Not what to you want to see," New York manager Joe Girardi said. "I was a little nervous. Got mostly glove."

Sabathia remained in the game, and allowed two runs and six hits over 3 2-3 innings. He struck out five and walked one during a 70-pitch outing.

"No problem," Sabathia said. "I'm ready just to get the season started. I'll be ready."

Phillies minor leaguer Kyle Drabek, the son of former major league pitcher Doug Drabek, gave up five runs - four earned - and five hits in 2 1-3 innings.

Selected by the Phillies in the first round of the 2006 draft, Drabek made a combined eight starts last season in rookie league and short-season Class A following elbow ligament replacement surgery.

Mark Teixeira had an RBI single and a two-run homer for New York. Hideki Matsui, who had a limited workout Tuesday due to neck stiffness, went 2-for-3, including a two-run homer.

Teixeira, with three hits in three at-bats, raised his batting average to .444. He has three homers and 11 RBIs.

"I wish opening day was tomorrow," he said.

Jayson Werth hit his sixth homer of the spring - a solo shot off Sabathia - in the third. Phillies closer Brad Lidge walked Matsui during a scoreless sixth.

New York is scheduled to workout for the first time at the new Yankee Stadium on Thursday before playing exhibition games Friday and Saturday against the Chicago Cubs.

"I think everyone is extremely excited to see it," Girardi said. "I'm extremely excited."
