Flames burn through house in Newark

Fire tore through a three-story home in Newark Tuesday morning, forcing firefighters to pull out of the blazing building. Firefighters reportedly pulled out of the three-story home on 17th Street as they battled the flames just after 7 a.m.

Eyewitness News is told the fire burned through the second and third floors of the building, collapsing the floors and blocking firefighter access.

Officials say two firefighters sustained second degree burns and were treated at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.

The fire left three residents homeless. The cause is under investigation.
