Winners of 2009 'Eat Out Awards'

NEW YORK Time Out New York held its annual "Eat Out" awards -- which included both critics picks and readers choice awards.

Some of the categories included best bad boy turned good, best place to cultivate a beer belly, best ticket to italy, and best reason to declare your love for barbecue and bourbon.

TONY Eat Out section editor Gabriella Gershenson bestowed 25 Readers Choice awards and 25 Critics Picks prizes during the ceremony, selecting from the citys top restaurants and bars.

Readers Choice winners included Best New BarThe Rusty Knot; Best Return of a New York InstitutionThe Oak Room; Best New PizzaArtichoke; Best New Brooklyn RestaurantButtermilk Channel; Best New Burger5 Napkin Burger; Best New Wine BarTerroir; and Best New ItalianScarpetta.

Critics Picks honors were awarded in such categories as Best New MexicanCabrito; Most Seductive Use of CarbsConvivio; Best New Sushi JointSushi Azabu; Best Comeback of a Vanishing TradeMarlow & Daughters; and Best Dining on a BudgetSimon Sips.

Ceremony attendees included David Chang ofMomofuku, Paul Liebrandt of Corton,Pichet Ong of Batch, Ken Friedman of the Rusty Knot and Julie Reiner of the Clover Club. The audience was treated to hors d'oeuvres provided by Chef Ildefonso Cordero of (Le) Poisson Rouge and libations from sponsors Stella Artois,Orzel Vodka, Frederick Wildman Wines and Borba Water.
