The suspect is identified as Kevin Johnson. A woman at the Bay Parkway station recognized him from the picture and called police.
A police source says Johnson, 30, has 30 prior arrests and was selling MetroCard swipes when he got in an argument with a woman. As he screamed obscenities, the woman reportedly recognized Johnson from the photo, left the station and called 911.
"The woman who took this picture performed a fabulous public service," NYPD spokesman Paul Browne told the New York Post. "She provided a great public service, when you see his record."
Charges are pending.
