2 in custody in Staten Island burglaries

ST. GEORGE Peter Maletta, 44, of Queens, is facing a number of charges, including burglary. Police say Maletta and his partner, identified as Kenneth Brosnan, targeted nine luxury homes in New Dorp.

Maletta, caught on surveillance camera wearing a New York Mets jacket, allegedly broke into the homes through open windows.

A February 10 burglary at a home on Bancroft Avenue was captured by a home security system.

In the surveillance video, police say Maletta appears to approach the front of the home while Brosnan breaks in through the rear.

The pair escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The Staten Island district attorney tells Eyewitness News Brosnan is already in jail, charged with an unrelated burglary.
