'Boulevard of death' claims another life

NEW YORK Queens Boulevard claimed another victim, while the other accident took place in Hell's Kitchen.

In the first incident, police responded to Queens Boulevard, at 70th Street around 9:15 Wednesday night.

When they arrived, they discovered an woman in her 20s unconscious and unresponsive.

She was rushed to Elmhurst General Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

Police are still looking for the driver.

Meanwhile, a woman in her 50s was fatally struck at the intersection of Ninth Avenue and West 40th Street in Hell's Kitchen.

She was rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital, and also pronounced dead on arrival.

Detectives located the private garbage truck believed to have struck the victim in East Harlem, at the intersection of East 112th Street and Second Avenue.

Eyewitness News is told a private sanitation truck driver was questioned and released by police.

The driver, who works for Action Carting, reportedly hit the woman at the intersection of Ninth Avenue and West 40th Street around 10:10 p.m.

The truck driver told police he did not see the woman and struck her when the light turned green.

After questioning, detectives determined that the driver did not know he struck the woman.
