The fire is believed to have started in a hair salon named "Jason's."
There are other hair salons that were damaged in the building, and also a doctor's office.
Firefighters from 12 departments reported to fight the blaze.
The building was built in the 60s.
Two owners, who were down in the basement at the time of the fire, credit a client for calling and getting them out of the buring building.
"I think if it wasn't for that phone call, we'd be trapped in there. No smoke alarms went off," one business owner said.
The doctor in the building is worried about damaged files.
There is no word on the cause of the fire at this time.
