Long Island welcomes back 300 reservists

LONG ISLAND Members of the infantry unit have been away for seven months.

The reservists arrived at the Garden City Marine Corps base around 5:30 p.m. Friday.

A Nassau County police spokesman said at least 17 members of the unit work in some aspect of law enforcement.

In January, about 150 members of the Army National Guard's 69th Infantry Regiment returned to Long Island after nine months in Afghanistan.
