FBI raids home of New Jersey lawmaker

TRENTON Vas pleaded not guilty earlier this month to charges of stealing more than $5,000 in goods and services from the city while mayor.

The assemblyman is accused of rigging a public lottery to enable his former driver to win the opportunity to buy a home through a city affordable housing program.

His neighbor, former aide Melvin Ramos, is charged with soliciting fraudulent contributions to Vas' unsuccessful congressional campaign in 2006.
