Teen critical after Queens fire

QUEENS The 18-year-old was trapped when flames broke out in a house at 106-10 101st Avenue at around 11:15 a.m.

Her family rushed out to safety, but she was trapped inside.

Firefighters from Engine 285 and Ladder 142 pushed into the smoky two-story home and pulled out the victim. She sustained second- and third-degree burns over much of her body.

She was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, stabilized and taken to the burn unit at Cornell Medical Center.

She was critically injured, but expected to survive.

Her father and her uncle also sustained smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
