Shock and sorrow in New Jersey where a beloved Edison High School football player suddenly collapsed and died. Police say Kittim Sherrod was running through town with teammates when he hit the pavement.

Fellow players flagged down a car and Sherrod was rushed to the hospital, but it was too late.

The 17-year-old Sherrod played multiple positions for his team, the Eagles.

He had been accepted to three colleges for the fall.

The cause of his death is under investigation.
