Man convicted of biting off cop's finger

MAYS LANDING, N.J. An Atlantic County jury on Friday convicted Rafael Pichardo of aggravated assault.

Prosecutors say he bit Atlantic City Police Officer Dean Dooley while being arrested in a nightclub at the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort in February 2007.

Police were called to the Casbah nightclub when the 30-year-old Pichardo became unruly. He struggled with Dooley and two other officers, and bit off part of Dooley's left index finger. The officer has since returned to work.

Pichardo will be sentenced July 10.
