Yankees-Angels postponed by rain

NEW YORK A makeup date wasn't immediately announced.

Melky Cabrera hit a tiebreaking RBI single in the eighth inning of the Yankees' 7-4 win in the series opener on Thursday. New York scored six runs in the last two innings in a 10-9 victory Friday night but the Angels bounced back Saturday, riding Matt Palmer's strong start to an 8-4 win.

A steady rain fell in the Bronx for much of Sunday morning, and the game was called after about an hour delay. Joe Saunders was scheduled to face New York's Phil Hughes.

The Yankees host the Red Sox on Monday in Boston's first game at the new Yankee Stadium while the Angels are at Oakland.
