Ebony Herrera of Mastic Beach was arraigned Sunday morning on charges of child endangerment and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. She was jailed on $250,000 bond.
Herrera told Newsday she was "very sorry" and that she wouldn't have gotten onto the road had she known she was going to fall asleep.
Police say Herrera was driving in Manorville at around 2 a.m. Saturday when she crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with the pickup.
Investigators weren't sure if a car seat in the vehicle had been properly fastened.
