Firefighters banged on the door of the occupied home to get people out. Seven residents were left homeless by the flames.
One resident and one firefighter were treated at Mount Vernon Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
It took more than two hours to put out the flames.
The fire is suspicious and the cause is under investigation. Residents told firefighters the blaze started in an abandoned house that squatters sometimes use.
