Cabrera injures shoulder crashing into wall

ARLINGTON, Texas The start was delayed 2 hours, 24 minutes by rain. With rain falling again, Cabrera raced back in pursuit of a long drive by Rangers leadoff hitter Ian Kinsler.

Cabrera missed the ball, took about two more off-balance steps and then crashed into the padded wall. He seemed to brace himself with both arms, but his glove popped off his right hand when he smacked into the fence.

Cabrera immediately grabbed his right shoulder, but retrieved the ball and threw it in - obviously in pain. New York manager Joe Girardi and a trainer rushed out to check on Cabrera, who walked off the field and was replaced by Brett Gardner.

Kinsler got a triple on the play.

Preliminary X-rays showed no further damage.
