Deadly crash into two homes

FLUSHING The crash happened in the Flushing section of Queens around 12:40 a.m. Thursday.

Police said the 21-year-old driver lost control of his 2009 Toyota Camry on the eastbound Horace Harding Expressway.

The Camry flipped into the air, hurtled over two parked cars, and took down a street sign as it crashed into the front of a house on 61st Road.

The car burst into flames, trapping the driver inside.

The flames spread to a neighboring house as firefighters attempted to rescue the driver.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The residents of two homes escaped the flames without injury.

The driver of the Camry appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed, police said, but the cause of the crash is under investigation.
