FDA approves cancer treatment for dogs

WASHINGTON The Food and Drug Administration has approved the first drug made specifically to treat cancer in dogs.

It's called Palladia, and it's manufactured by Pfizer's animal health division. The drug is a treatment for the cancer accounting for about one in five cases of canine skin tumors.

Until now, human cancer drugs could only be administered by vets under controlled circumstances.
