Students revolt after book bag ban

UNIONDALE Instead, nearly 40 percent of the high school students skipped school Wednesday, when the ban started.

Some complained of long lines caused by the security screening.

Others said they weren't told to leave their bags at home.

On Thursday, attendance was better, though 11 percent of students were absent.

Students lit firecrackers in school as a senior class prank two weeks ago. The ban on book bags will continue through the end of the school year.
