NEW YORK He under-estimated a jump and ended up falling to his death, according to police.

The incident happened at 113th street and Liberty Avenue, just a few blocks from the robbery.

Witnesses told Eyewitness News the man hit the pavement headfirst after a desperate 25-foot leap from the elevated A-line to a nearby rooftop and fell-short.

Detectives say the man walked into the Richmond Hill branch of Capital One and passed a teller a note, demanding money.

Witnesses say he escaped on-foot, but dumped the money in a nearby trash can when he realized he was being followed.

He ran to the elevated line and tried to jump to an adjacent rooftop to escape police however, tumbled two and a half stories to his death.

Moments after the man tossed the money into the trash can-an exploding dye-pack sent at least one woman running for cover.
