Pedicab driver critical after taxi collision

A pedicab operator was critically injured in a collision with a yellow taxi on the Williamsburg Bridge. The pedicab, with three occupants, was exiting the pedestrian walkway when it collided with the taxi near Bedford Street and Broadway, on the Brooklyn side of the bridge. The force of the collision snapped the pedicab in half.

The operator of the pedicab was rushed to Bellevue Medical Center. He was unconscious and in critical condition. A female passenger of the pedicab also went to Bellevue with less serious injures.

Others were taken to Woodhull Hospital with less serious injuries.

The cause of the collision was under investigation.
