Standoff in Albany

June 22, 2009

Hard to imagine it would actually happen - the troopers muscling the Senators, not the Governor calling a special session; that's a foregone conclusion - but wouldn't it be a fitting development for a group of guys - and they are mostly guys - who have become the poster children for adults-behaving-badly?

It would be easy to take a "who cares?" attitude about all this. But there is, in fact, a barrel-load of important issues at stake - issues that affect the pocketbooks of millions of New Yorkers.

Like bickering kids, they can't come up with their own power-sharing deal. So now Governor Paterson is proposing a plan to have two floor leaders. That should go over big.

We'll have the latest on the chaos in Albany - when will this all end? - tonight at 11.

Also at 11, we'll have the latest from Iran, where that country's Revolutionary Guard – although perhaps they should be renamed "Reactionary Guard?" - is threatening to let protestors have it if they continue demonstrating against the recent elections.

We'll also have any breaking news of the night, plus Lee Goldberg's AccuWeather forecast, and Scott Clark with the night's sports. I hope you can join Liz Cho and me, tonight at 11.
