The ultimate Michael Jackson fan

TOMS RIVER, N.J. He is Peter Carter of Toms River; Jackson fan, impersonator and heartbroken admirer, crushed that his idol has died.

"He inspired me... yesterday was... I have no words," Carter said.

Peter's bedroom is a shrine to Jackson. It has been for many years.

He's performed publicly, impersonating the King of Pop across the country. He met Jackson several times.

"In Gary Indiana, he invited me into the limo. I've been to Neverland. What a kind, trusting person to bring fans into your home and say, have fun," he said.

The last picture Peter took with Michael was back in April when he told the star that the only tattoo he'd ever get would be Michael's autograph. Jackson signed Peter's back. That same day, a tattoo artist inked it in to last a lifetime.

"He was so excited to do it. He was just a cool guy," Carter said,

His room is filled with autographed CDs, pictures, posters, a replica glove and hat -- everything Michael.

"When I found out, I was in a limo headed to a performance dressed like Michael. It shattered my world," he said.

Peter is heading to Los Angeles in the morning to meet up with friends who shared his passion for the King of Pop. He couldn't imagine not being there.

"I wish more people knew him as a person," he said as he began to cry.
