Bird strikes plane while landing at LGA

NEW YORK American Airlines Flight 1256, which originated in Miami, was struck just before 10:55 a.m. Tuesday.

The Boeing 737 collided with at least one bird shortly before it was about to touch down.

The plane was at about 900 feet altitude and descending at the time it was struck.

The Boeing 737-800 landed safely and taxied partly to the gate before reporting trouble with the nose gear. It was then towed into the gate.

The plane was leaking some hydraulic fluid because of the strike.

Passengers did not know about strike until they got off plane.

None of the 135 passengers and five crew were injured.
