Police: Possible crime hit on SI

STATEN ISLAND The victim, 46-year-old Anthony Seccafico, was found near Arthur Kill Road and Ilyssa Way just after 4:30 a.m.

He was pronounced dead at Staten Island University Hospital.

Seccafico was a reputed member of the Bonanno crime family, and investigators will look into if the killing of is connected to the apparent power vacuum at the top of the Bonanno family following the deportation of Salvatore Montagna to Canada.

They will now keep a close eye on current Bonanno family members to see if there is any retribution.

Authorities say Seccafico, a union laborer known as "Little Anthony," is a longtime mobster who may have been in line to be "made" in the crime family.

He reportedly has numerous prior arrests, including for gambling, loansharking, assault, menacing, attempted murder and drugs. Investigators are also looking into past criminal activity as a possible motive.

However, they are certain Seccafico was targeted. There were no signs of robbery. He was apparently killed near the entrance to the Aspen Knolls housing development.

The murder was near a bus stop, and the local S74 and X17 buses were rerouted due to the police investigation.

No arrests have been made.
