Seven become citizens at Liberty ceremony

Seven members of the U.S. armed forces have become U.S. citizens in a special naturalization ceremony at the Statue of Liberty. Homeland Security Deputy Secretary Jane Holl Lute administered the oath of allegiance to them Saturday.

The new citizens then set off to climb the statue's crown, which is opening to the public for the first time since the terror attacks.

The seven join more than 47,000 non-citizens who have served in the military since 9/11 and have become U.S. citizens through special "fast-track" provisions.
