Workers spent about 90 minutes stuck in the air after a scaffolding accident in Jersey City. The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. at the Newport Tower along Washington Blvd. in Jersey City.

Officials said work crews were out on a scaffolding to perform an inspection when a cable snapped on the mechanism that raises and lowers the scaffold lost power.

The scaffold with two men and one woman was dangling near the 32nd floor..

A window on the 34th floor of the building was shattered in the accident.

With the help of the scaffolding company, another power cord was lowered to the stranded workers.

Crews were able to lift the scaffold to a deck of the building and get the workers to safety.

While this was going on, the firefighters also assisted a woman who went into labor directly across the street from the rescue scene.
